What is Barbed Wire?
Barbed Wire is double or single-twisted line wire with evenly spaced barbs — a low-cost, high-deterrent perimeter line for agricultural and security boundaries. It is best suited to agricultural boundaries, perimeter security lines, highway & railway fencing. Medvaan confirms the gauge, dimensions and coating against the application before dispatch.

Barbed wire is the oldest product in the perimeter-fencing category, and still the most efficient way to mark and deter across long boundary runs. We spec it as a double-twisted line wire with a separate barb wire wound at fixed intervals, which keeps the barb from sliding along the line under tension — and we hold our manufacturing partners to that construction, not whatever's fastest to run that week.
Because the line wire carries the load and the barb wire only needs to hold its wrap, we spec a higher-tensile core than most barb spacing requires — which means fewer snapped runs across a season of livestock pressure or storm load.
What sets Barbed Wire apart
Double-twist construction
Two line wires twisted together lock barb wraps in place under tension.
Heavy zinc galvanization
Corrosion-resistant coating rated for continuous outdoor exposure.
Fixed barb spacing
Barbs set at consistent 75 mm / 100 mm / 150 mm intervals.
High-tensile core option
Higher breaking strength line wire for long unsupported spans.
Compact coil packing
Coiled for efficient freight and easier field deployment.
Single or double twist
Construction selectable to match cost and holding-strength targets.

What is Barbed Wire used for?+
Barbed Wire is commonly used for agricultural boundaries, perimeter security lines, highway & railway fencing, industrial yard boundaries. The final gauge, size and coating should be matched to site load, exposure and service-life requirements.
Which Barbed Wire specifications can Medvaan supply?+
Medvaan can confirm wire gauge, barb spacing, twist type, tensile grade, coil length, gi coating for each order. Standard ranges are shown on this page; non-standard requirements are reviewed against quantity and manufacturing lead time.
How does Medvaan verify Barbed Wire?+
Medvaan sets the required wire, construction and coating specification, sources from audited manufacturing partners, and checks conformance before dispatch. Order-specific tolerances are confirmed in writing.
