What is GI Wire?
GI Wire is galvanised iron wire in soft-annealed and high-tensile grades — the base material that runs through every mesh and barbed wire product Medvaan makes. It is best suited to binding & tying wire, raw material for mesh & barbed wire manufacturing, general construction use. Medvaan confirms the gauge, dimensions and coating against the application before dispatch.

GI wire is where the rest of the product range begins. Every chainlink roll, weldmesh panel, barbed wire coil and grassland fence starts as drawn wire that gets galvanized before it's woven, welded or twisted — so the quality of this base wire sets a ceiling on everything downstream of it, which is why we hold it to the same spec whether it ships as a finished fence or as wire on its own.
We also supply it independently, in soft-annealed grade for binding and tying work, and hard-drawn grade for applications that need the wire itself to carry structural load. Every coil is hot-dip galvanized to a controlled coating weight, verified before it ships — not just labelled "galvanized" and left at that.
What sets GI Wire apart
Hot-dip galvanized
Coated to a controlled 20–120 GSM zinc weight, not a flat "galvanized" claim.
Uniform zinc coating
Consistent coating weight across the coil, verified against our spec before dispatch.
Wide gauge range
From fine binding wire to heavy structural gauges.
Soft-annealed or hard-drawn
Tensile grade matched to tying, binding or structural use.
Coil or spool packaging
Packed by weight or length to suit downstream processing.
Common base material
The same wire stock and spec that feeds our mesh, barbed wire and field fence lines.

What is GI Wire used for?+
GI Wire is commonly used for binding & tying wire, raw material for mesh & barbed wire manufacturing, general construction use, agricultural tying and repair. The final gauge, size and coating should be matched to site load, exposure and service-life requirements.
Which GI Wire specifications can Medvaan supply?+
Medvaan can confirm wire gauge, tensile grade, coating, gi coating weight, packaging for each order. Standard ranges are shown on this page; non-standard requirements are reviewed against quantity and manufacturing lead time.
How does Medvaan verify GI Wire?+
Medvaan sets the required wire, construction and coating specification, sources from audited manufacturing partners, and checks conformance before dispatch. Order-specific tolerances are confirmed in writing.
